got two could not get eather to work on two differnt systems or 3 differnt printers ended up trash caning both would not work on xp, vista, or windows 7
Not once was I able to get that ps working. the firmware froze up and the software was awful. Well I was on vacation for 5 days with nothing hooked up and I've been in and out of the house everyday for my business. (thats what happened with my other printer) If you do it my way will never have a problem. Since I am in the business it was a snap for me but for some people who might not know what I'm even talking about you might run into issues. Don't even try calling there they may not even understand the concept LOL. I have a samsung laser printer and it works fine. Good old USA sellilng it's self out to india, china etc.
I'm glad I got this. The only issue I realized with the software of this print server was at the end you might have to configure the tcp/ip address yourself because for some reason it uses a usb virtual port when it should use a tcp/ip address port. This was not brought from Amazon but I have brought plenty from here so hopefully they will still allow me to review this. I am so happy I have this server. I never lost a connection.3 WEEKS LATER This is an update about this print server.
2.4 and 5g. (with this print server wired into my router) never did I have to reset or reconfigure it. Even though It's not wireless I don't need it because it's small. This is from another siteThis print server priced is the best bang for the buck.
So if your power goes out or you turn your stuff off you might get a different ip address when you turn your devices on If that happens the server may not work. This is free advice what I do for all network devices is I get a router with DHCP reservation and make the device on a network a static ip in the router, to double proof it you can make it static in the server like I did with this one. This is what Technical support is suppose to tell you. I'd say I'm writing this about a month or at least 3 weeks later. The software you install at times configures the computer with the IP address at the time of installation.
(but with this print server I have no problems printing on either band I'm on unlike the old linksys even though it was wired) I've found in my career that wired products are much more relabile anyway. So if you understand what I'm talking about try it, if not hire a pro or read up on it. I love this server its low cost, Looks like a toy, and it's great it's very reliable for me. (Providing the server is compatible with your printer) I've found if you just rely on DHCP with no reservation any wireless product you have most likely is goinging to have a problems. I have a dual band router (Netgear wndr 3700) and it works find on both bands.
Never did I have a problem with it. I don't have a desktop now I'm in and out with my laptop. This just replaced a print server it was a linksys a wps54g and that was terrable. Also my router is a dual band.
I still can't print anything at all. And from what I gather, Netgear has no intention at all of ever making this piece compatible with Windows 7. Just as the title states, this print server will not work with Windows 7. I've talked with technical support, followed directions I've found on the internet, and nothing works. Save your money. I couldn't even make it through the setup wizard without having to plug the printer in directly to my computer and install the drivers that way. Then, the setup wizard would finally finish, and it would allow me to print a test page.
Most printer now have network software in them now. Worked to allow me to use a printer that was not network ready.
In the month I've had it there was only one instance where it stopped working momentarily, and all I had to do was taking out the power cord and plug it back in. Easy install, and runs perfectly.
